Snow

Who would have thought that winter would visit us again? It is the last day of Spring Break for the kids, and the weather turns against us. The news warned us of the coming snowstorm, but it didn't really hit me until I woke up this morning to 4 inches of snow. While most of it has melted now, it has completely ruined my attitude on the day. It is now dinnertime and I've realized that I have wasted my entire day. I've yelled at the kids more than once today, although they probably needed it, for messing up the house once again. All those little things that I put aside for so long, just blew up today. Where is my sanity?

Spring Weather

Finally, some nice weather in our area. After receiving a surprise snowstorm last week, I didn't know what to expect for the rest of April. Today was absolutely beautiful! It was about 77 degrees and so sunning. I was able to do some yardwork and the kids played outside all day. The only downfall, I got a little sunburned and so did Matthew. I sure hope that this weather keeps up for the rest of Spring Break.

Matthew's Birthday

Yesterday was Matthew's 5th birthday. I can't believe how big he's getting. We were so busy the entire day, and Matthew said that he had a great birthday. Before the three older kids when to school, we let Matthew open his presents. He got a small plastic golf set and a ton of Spiderman things (a kite, a kickboard, a paddle ball, and a punching bag). Right after the kids left for the bus stop, Jeff was able to call and talk to just Matthew; well, and me of course. When Alayna got home from school, the three of us took Trax downtown to the Aquarium. It seemed like a good idea at the time but on the way back to the Trax station after visiting the Aquarium it started to rain. We got sooooo wet, but we still had a good time. Then, after Donovan and Sean got home we all went to Hollywood Connection. It was Grandma and Grandpa Burgener's present to Matthew. We all had a blast!!! We didn't make it home until about a quarter to 10pm. We were all so worn out we all went straight to bed. We never did have time for some cake, so that's what we'll do today. Matthew also received a package from Jeff in the mail today. An oversized t-shirt that has a picture and says, "Who's Your Baghdaddy?" and a camel that plays music. Matthew loves the camel!

Alayna Takes a Test

In the kids' school they have an AR program, which is Accelerated Reading. Certain books are chosen that the kids can read then take a quiz on. During this last trimester, the Kindergarten classes are introducing the kids to the whole process. Well, Alayna read "Kipper's Toybox" then took the quiz for it the other day. She got all the questions right!!! She was so excited, and so was I. She is absolutely loving school and is excited to be going into first grade in the fall. I'm just so happy for her.

Date With Donovan

Donovan and I went out tonight, and we had a blast!! We went to Hollywood Connection and did so much there. We rode all the rides, played in the tubes, played miniature golf, and played a game of laser tag. Oh, and we played a few arcade games. Laser tag was so much fun!!! Donovan scored 19000 points while I only scored 6000. Others were making comments about him saying things like, "Watch out for that kid" and "That little kid is good." Donovan came in 2nd, which was more like 1st because the guy who scored the most works there and he scored like 36000 points, so I don't think he counts. :o) We still have points on the card because we ran out of time. That just gives us an excuse to go there again.

On a side note, when I got home from taking the babysitter back home, I found out that Sean spent the whole time in his room. When I asked him about it, he just shyed away, and I think it's because he has a crush on the babysitter. I asked him about it and he denied it, but I could tell something is up. Too cute!!!

Matthew Does Chores

This afternoon I was putting away laundry when out of the blue Matthew says, "I need to vacuum this place up." He got the vacuum out of the closet and started cleaning the living room carpet. He, of course, cleaned it his own way, but it was definitely the thought that counted. He felt very satisfied with the job that he did. I could tell by the look of pride on his face. It's so hard to believe how fast he is growing up and that he'll be 5 years old in just a couple weeks. Amazing!
